The play is about the story of two very unhappy homosexual buddies, Mendy and Stephen, who are obsessed with the legendary Opera diva Maria Calls. The drama of the play develops along the lines of a piece of classic opera, and as most Operas usually do, it ends tragically as Mendy’s and Stephen’s world is poisoned by infidelity and jealousy. The play revolves around the four male figures in the story. Mendy, Stephen, Stephen’s lover Michael, who has now found a new lover in “Paul”, a handsome, young waiter who has no interest in opera. The play is a well written, poignant and interesting trip into the worlds of opera and the gay community. "The Lisbon Traviata"
